WakeDroid is an alarm clock app for Android. This page explains what data the app uses, where it goes and what you can do about it.

No account, no analytics

You don't need an account to use WakeDroid. The app contains no analytics or crash reporting services, and it does not collect personal data for the developer.

Data on your phone

Your alarms and settings are stored only on your phone. They are not included in Android's cloud backup. When you export a backup, WakeDroid writes a file to a location you choose, and you decide what happens to it. Uninstalling the app removes all of its data from your phone.

If you pick your own audio file or music folder as an alarm sound, WakeDroid only gets access to the file or folder you select, and only reads it to play it.

Internet connections

WakeDroid only connects to the internet for the features below, and only when you use them. As with any internet connection, these services can see your IP address.

• Radio stations. When you search for a station, your search term and the selected country are sent to Radio Browser, a free and open station directory. When a station plays, your phone connects to that station's own stream server.
• Stream URLs. If you enter a stream address yourself, your phone connects to that address.
• Weather. When you search for a weather location, your search term is sent to Open-Meteo. When an alarm rings and its spoken message includes the weather, the app sends the coordinates of the place you chose to Open-Meteo. WakeDroid does not use your phone's location.

Speech

To read out the time and the weather, WakeDroid uses the text-to-speech engine installed on your phone, such as the one from Google or Samsung. That engine is handled by its own provider and privacy policy.

Permissions

• Alarms and reminders, to ring at exactly the right time.
• Notifications and full screen alerts, to show the alarm on your lock screen and the countdown in the status bar.
• Run at startup, to reschedule your alarms after a restart.
• Vibration and keeping the phone awake, while an alarm is ringing.
• Internet, for radio and weather as described above.

Children

WakeDroid is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal data, it also collects none from children.

Changes

If WakeDroid starts handling data differently, for example through new features or advertising, this page will be updated before that version is released. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
